Headstones

Our headstones are manufactured from a variety of stone types, such as granite, limestone and marble in a variety of colours and designs. Most granites are imported from the far east, India and China. We use Irish granite and also Irish limestone for particular requirements. Granite is the hardest stone available for use in the manufacture of headstones. The polishing process brings out the natural colours of each different granite and also protects the stone from the weather. The Granite is so hard it is practically guaranteed the inscriptions will never wear away if they are inscribed properly in the first place.

Foundations
One part of a grave monument that is never seen but is the most important part of the structure is the foundation. We at Byrne Memorials always re-enforce our concrete foundations using steel to bind, strengthen and bond the foundation, making it stronger and more likely to withstand the wear and tear of the years.

Kerbs and corner posts
In older cemeteries and graveyards, it is the normal practice to use stone kerbs as a surround to a family grave. Kerbs can be supplied in the same variety of colours as the headstones and are available in different shapes and styles. Corner posts are usually used on most graves in these older cemeteries and also come in different colours and styles.

Surface chippings
We provide a large range of stone and glass chippings which are used to decorate the surface of a grave in front of the headstone. Most graves are covered in either a mix of limestone and white marble or granite chippings, but customers can also choose from different pebbles in different colours and also shaped coloured glass pebbles. Many of the different styles are on display in our showroom.

New Inscriptions
We also inscribe additional names to existing headstones in situ in the graveyard. We endeavour to match the existing letters in style and size to maintain a consistency of text on a headstone.

Grave Maintenance and Restoration
Byrne Memorials offer a grave restoration and maintenance service. This includes cleaning old headstones, renewing old inscriptions, cleaning kerb surrounds and removing and replacing old grave surface chippings.

Vases, Plaques, Solar Lights & Accessories

In our showroom, on display we have many different shapes and sizes of vases and lanterns. These can be supplied in the matching colour of a chosen headstone and can be inscribed with a name or a short message. We also stock a range of granite lanterns in the various colours with battery and annual lights for use in the lanterns. We inscribe granite hearts, books and plaques with personal messages to be placed on graves as part of the service. Photographs of loved ones can be fixed to headstones as permanent reminders for visitors to a family grave.
